As the beautiful Kiwi summer arrives, New Zealanders’ travel plans are taking off, with Air New Zealand experiencing strong demand for flights to Nelson.
Air New Zealand General Manager of Airports Kate Boyer says the airline is gearing up to welcome 154,000 customers flying to and from the Nelson Tasman region over the summer holiday period.
“This summer, Nelson is our second most popular regional destination after Queenstown, and to meet the demand, we’ve added 6000 extra seats in December and January. With treasures ranging from the golden beaches of Abel Tasman National Park to the delicious offerings along the Great Taste Trail, it’s easy to see why the Tasman region is a top choice among holidaymakers.”
The Air New Zealand regional lounge at Nelson Airport will offer a special Christmas menu from 19 December to Christmas Day, featuring festive favourites, including ham, new potatoes, green beans, and strawberries and cream.
After Christmas, customers will enjoy fresh seasonal flavours as part of the airline’s new summer lounge menu.
"Connecting friends and whānau is at the heart of what we do. Our team is dedicated to ensuring every customer’s journey is as smooth and enjoyable as possible,” Boyer says.
“During this busy travel season, we recommend allowing extra time at the airport, especially if you’re travelling with pets, oversized bags, or require special assistance.
“From all of us at Air New Zealand, we wish you a safe, joyful and relaxing holiday season.”
Air New Zealand is expecting to fly around 1.8 million customers domestically in December and January.
