If you prefer to abseil without the thunderous sound of waterfalls but instead with the gentle sound of birdsong in the background, then Blue Creek is the canyon for you.
This canyon is located in the Kahurangi National Park. After walking amongst beautiful native forest for a good hour, you will find yourself surrounded by steep marble cliffs and you will start your abseiling journey. In some places the canyon is so narrow that you can touch both walls at the same time. Compared to our aquatic canyons, this canyon is amazingly calm and peaceful, allowing you to fully appreciate New Zealand birdsong. When you are at the bottom of the canyon you will have done more than 15 abseils. So even if you were relatively new to abseiling to start with, you will be able to call yourself an abseil pro at the end of this trip.
