The Bench | School for Jewellery welcomes visitors to Whakatū Nelson to come and spend a morning or full day with jeweller Kay van Dyk in her light filled, well equipped, central city workshop. It's fun, relaxed, and caters for all abilities.
The Bench offers half day earring and full day ring making classes where you'll come away with 1-2 hand crafted pieces of jewellery. Your tutor will demonstrate some techniques to get your started, then you'll have creative freedom to design and make your own earrings or rings in a supported relaxed environment. Course fees include some silver for your first piece, with extra silver available for purchase. The Bench also offers Rent-a-Bench by the half or full day for jewellers passing through Nelson who are able to work independently or with limited assistance. Here you'll rent a bench and use the workshop facilities to work on your own designs and be part of the local jewellery community.

Conditions
Those aged between 15-18 years will need to attend with a person aged 18 and over. Kids Stacker Rings classes for ages 9-15 years are held in the school holidays, please check the website for dates.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made 14 days prior to the class start date will receive a full refund, minus fees; up to 7 days prior, you will receive a 50% refund minus fees; cancellations made less than 7 days prior are unable to be refunded. If you are unwell or unable to attend a session, we do not offer make-up classes. You can send a friend in your place, just let us know before the start date. If you are unable to attend a session, we do not offer make-up classes.
