Anchorage Beach, Abel Tasman National Park

Sheltered by the headlands, the name Anchorage seems only fitting for this iconic beachside destination. It is the ideal spot to anchor a yacht and while the day away. Adventures are aplenty in this part of the Abel Tasman National Park.

Anchorage, a key destination along the Abel Tasman Coastal Track, features the first large camping area with a 34-bunk DOC hut and 50 tent sites. Just 4 hours (12.4km) from Marahau, it's popular for water taxis, scenic cruises, and kayaking trips.

Enjoy short, scenic walks from the stunning beach. At low tide, explore unique rock formations, including an elephant-shaped one, and take the Pitt Head walk for breathtaking coastal views.

Next on the track is Torrent Bay, accessible via a tidal estuary shortcut at low tide or a scenic high tide route, offering diverse and picturesque experiences.
