At all times of the year, you’ll find locals and holiday-makers indulging in everything this beachfront village offers, whether relaxing on the beach, splashing around in the lagoon, eating breakfast on the balcony or taking a short stroll to a scenic viewpoint.

Many short walks are accessible from Kaiteriteri Beach, offering unparalleled opportunities to explore the secluded hideaways and sweeping golden coastline. The beach's southern end connects with Little Kaiteriteri, weaving around the headland and down a wooden staircase to the peaceful and tranquil beach on the other side. During the busier summer months, this is often where the locals head, remaining close to all the amenities whilst also securing a pocket of paradise away from the Kaiteriteri buzz.

Just behind the Kaiteriteri Campground is Withell’s Walk, a 45-minute trek through lush native bush to a viewpoint overlooking the entire bay and beyond. This track is moderately steep and rutted and not suitable for strollers.

Alternatively, the beach's northern end takes you to Kaka Pah Point, an easy walk amongst Pohutakawa, Eucalypt and Manuka trees. Kaka Pah is culturally significant to tāngata whenua, particularly the iwi of Ngāti Rārua and Te Ātiawa, and you can learn more about this historic reserve from the plaques at the trail end. Here, a wooden bench overlooks the stunning golden sands of Kaiteriteri Beach, the ideal spot to relax and enjoy the views for a while.

Across the carpark is a lookout over Honeymoon Bay, or you could continue further and dig your toes into the sand at Breaker Bay.
