101/6 Aranui Road, Māpua 7005
Located in the original Māpua Wharf building, the Port Māpua Maritime Museum is a treasure trove of maritime history on one of New Zealand's few remaining historic working wharves, the focal point of the village.
Visitors can explore the rich maritime history of Nelson, Tasman, and Golden Bay through photos, interactive video displays, and maritime memorabilia detailing the wharf’s history. The museum's pictorial presentations, supported by the best early photographic record of any settlement in New Zealand, illustrate the role of early Māori, trading and passenger vessels, and notable maritime events.
Supported and managed by volunteers under the auspices of the Māpua Boat Club, the Port Māpua Maritime Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the region's seafaring past.
Free entry - gold coin donation appreciated.
