The secluded paradise of Torrent Bay is home to the largest concentration of privately owned beach houses in the Abel Tasman National Park, many of which you can rent for a night or two as you walk the Abel Tasman Coast Track.

The Torrent Bay Lodge is perhaps the most notable of them all and is open to guests travelling on a multi-day trip with Wilsons Abel Tasman. A DOC campsite is also located amongst the trees beside the tidal estuary.

As the properties in Torrent Bay are privately owned, drop-offs by water transport can only be made before noon, and no pick-ups are allowed. However, the Torrent Bay village is the perfect place to reconnect with nature, relax to the rhythm of the tides, sight-see from the beach or nearby lookout, or explore some of the extraordinary landmarks in the Abel Tasman National Park.

An early morning kayak in the tidal lagoon whilst the sun rises is spectacular, and it’s only a short walk up to Cleopatra's Pools, a natural rock pool with a moss-lined waterslide. As the water recedes from the glistening lagoon, a low-tide trek across to Anchorage beach is an option or continuing north toward Bark Bay will take you across the spectacular Falls River swing bridge.
