Travers River
The remote wilderness of the Nelson Lakes National Park is filled with remarkable landscapes, and the Travers-Sabine circuit is no different.
A loop track that takes in the glacial lakes, alpine mountain ranges and diverse bush of the national park, this multi-day hike is particularly popular with those looking to visit Lake Rotomairewhenua. However, the spectacularly clear lake is not the only drawcard to this challenging hike, as the views of Travers Falls are a reward in themselves. Plunging 20 metres into a sparkling clear pool at their base, the waterfall can be found via a short side track between John Tait Hut and Upper Travers Hut.
