Pōhara Beach is a warm, safe, sandy beach in Golden Bay, north of the Abel Tasman National Park and just 10 minutes from the Takaka township.
The beach is fringed with vegetation, offering ample shade for beachgoers looking to kick back and relax.
The vast golden beach attracts kayakers, swimmers, fishermen and boaties to its shores, but it is also a destination for windsurfing and blokarting.
Pōhara has been described by Lonely Planet as “a beach that at low tide is as big as Heathrow’s runway”, making for even more fun once the tide goes out.
